Trauma Perspectives on Infertility

British Infertility Counselling Association
Chancellors Hotel, Chancellors Way, Moseley Road, Fallowfield, Manchester M14 6NN
3 November 2017 - 9am-4.30pm

What is trauma? How does it come about? When are our clients exhibiting trauma reactions, as opposed to the effects of grief and loss? How does trauma manifest in the fertility counselling room? How do fertility counsellors support clients experiencing both past and current trauma?

This workshop for counsellors aims to:

  • explore perspectives on trauma within the field of infertility;

  • develop awareness of the meaning and identification of trauma and how it presents in the fertility counselling room with individuals and couples;

  • identify interventions and skills which can be helpful when dealing with past and current traumas;

  • consider the impact on counsellors of vicarious trauma.

Attendance fees range from £110 to £125. For further information and a booking form, contact Angela Pericleous-Smith at angela.pericleoussmith@gmail.com or on +44 (0)7771 885 443, or Gerry McCluskey at gerrymcc1@hotmail.co.uk
