Listening to Donors
Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority
The Hatton, 51-53 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8HN, UK
22 July 2009 5pm-7.30pm
Since 2004, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has provided certain information to donors who donated in a HFEA-licensed clinic after 1 August 1991. Upon request, the HFEA will provide donors with non-identifying information about the number, sex and year of birth of anyone born as a result of their donation, and has encouraged clinics to do the same. From October 2009, new legislation will mean donors will have the legal right to receive this information from the clinic where they donated or from the HFEA. This workshop will enable donors to find out more about the changes since 2004, and to discuss what type of information and guidance the HFEA can provide to those considering donation, considering reregistering as identifiable donors (if they donated before April 2005), or wishing to access information from the HFEA register.
Attendance is free, and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. Places are limited, and preference will be given to current, past or prospective sperm, egg or embryo donors. If you would like to attend, contact the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority at firstname.lastname@example.org or on +44 (0)20 7291 8233.
