Reproductive Medicine Specialist

Address: London
Salary: Competitive salary (dependent on experience)

Up for a challenge? BPAS is setting up a not-for-profit assisted conception service.

BPAS Fertility will focus on offering evidence-based fertility treatments to NHS funded and self-funding patients. The HFEA CoP requires we have a doctor who has completed training recognised by the RCOG (or equivalent professional body) and who is on the GMC's Specialist Register to take overall medical responsibility for treatment services involving IVF. To fulfil this role we are looking for a highly motivated individual for two sessions per week prepared to think out of the box and be comfortable with overseeing an innovative service model which challenges common practice.

It is an exciting and challenging time to join us at this early stage of our service. BPAS Fertility will consist of a hub unit in central London where the embryology and andrology labs are located and two satellite units outside of London where consultations, ultrasound scans and cycle management will be carried out.

In the hub, a team of nurses, doctors, embryologists, administrators, and a counsellor will collaboratively provide not-for-profit, patient-centred, evidence-based fertility treatments including IVF, ICSI, frozen embryo cycles, fertility preservation and intra uterine inseminations for a whole range of patients.

Key responsibilities:

  • To oversee medical activity within the service and support clinical staff members where needed.

  • To participate at a weekly MDT.

  • To ensure the provision of an appropriate standard of medical care and availability of expertise in the event of an unexpected outcome.

  • To assess and provide advice on the management of patients with medical or other conditions which may affect the treatment.

  • To participate in and co-operate with clinical audit activities and organisational research endeavours.

  • To promote a culture of continuous improvement.

  • To be responsible for updating your knowledge and skills through CPD.

This role could be extended to the provision of clinical fertility care for two sessions a week, should the successful candidate be interested in this.

We are looking for a motivated professional who has significant practical experience of working within an assisted conception unit, someone who has extensive knowledge of the HFEA Code of Practice and fertility treatments.

You will have completed training recognised by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (or equivalent professional body) and be on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register.
