This one-day conference will celebrate and build upon the work of the late Dame Anne McLaren, exploring her impact on many areas of biomedical science.
The conference will begin with a keynote presentation by Anne's colleague Baroness Mary Warnock (Patron of the Progress Educational Trust), which will be chaired by Sarah Norcross (Director of the Progress Educational Trust and Commissioning Editor of BioNews).
Other speakers will include Professor Peter Braude, Professor Mary Herbert, Dr Jane Lebkowski, Professor Ashley Moffett, Professor Willem Ombelet, Professor Andrew Webster and Peter Williams.
The conference will focus on three aspects of Anne's translational activities:
Basic research to clinical application
Translating scientific ideas to the public and policymakers
Translating knowledge across borders
And will consider how best to integrate science into policymaking and decisionmaking in coming decades.
Attendance is free, but advance booking is required. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
