Mutants and What to Do About Them

British Humanist Association/South Place Ethical Society
Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL, UK
09 February 2011 - 7.30pm

The 2011 British Humanist Association/South Place Ethical Society Darwin Day Lecture.

The lecture will be given by Armand Marie Leroi, Professor of Evolutionary Developmental Biology at Imperial College London and author of Mutants: On the Form, Varieties and Errors of the Human Body (buy this book from Amazon UK or Amazon USA); and will be chaired by ethologist and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, author of books including The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution (buy this book from Amazon UK or Amazon USA).

Humans are afflicted by a continual storm of mutations. Individually rare, these mutations are collectively responsible for thousands of genetic disorders. Now that the cost of sequencing a human genome has dropped to less than the price of a new car, we can start to defend ourselves against them. This event will outline how.

Attendance fees range from £7 to £12. To register, use this online form (if you are a member of the British Humanist Association) or this online form (if you are not a member of the British Humanist Association), or contact the British Humanist Association at or on +44 (0)121 7079 3580.

Further details of this event are available on the British Humanist Association website.
