How Can We Support the Development of a National Strategy for Rare Disease in the UK?
Genetic Alliance UK/Rare Disease UK
Nowgen Centre, 29 Grafton Street, Manchester M13 9WU, UK
16 November 2010 - 9.30am–4.30pm A conference addressing how to improve care, support and information for people affected by rare diseases.
Diseases that are rare when considered in isolation are not rare when considered in the aggregate, with more than 6,000 such conditions combining to affect a total of more than 3.5million people in the UK. However, treatment, information and support remain insufficiently coordinated and standards are insufficiently consistent. At this conference, which forms part of the European Project for Rare Diseases National Plans Development, speakers will discuss strategies and best practice at local, national and European levels.
Attendance is free but advance booking is required. To register, contact Melissa Hillier at or on +44 (0)20 7704 3141.
