Personal Genomic Screening
Royal Society of Medicine/Birmingham Medical Institute
Birmingham Medical Institute, 36 Harborne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, West Midlands B15 3AF, UK
21 October 2010 - 10am-4.30pm An event addressing the ready availability of personal genomic screening.
Some hail personal genomic screening as breakthrough in biomedicine, whereas others express concern about its application in clinical practice. Patient demand without appreciation of the implications could become a major problem for clinicians, especially for general practitioners. This event will explore ways that scientists and clinicians might respond.
Topics addressed at the event will include:
whether personal genomic screening will prevent adverse drug reactions;
facts and fantasies about personalised medicine;
the social implications of personal genome screening.
Attendance fees range from £25 to £135. To register, click on the 'Register for this meeting' button here or contact the Royal Society of Medicine at or on +44 (0)20 7290 2980.
