You don't have to be beautiful to have a beautiful baby - at least that's what the creators of the new Beautiful Baby service from BeautifulPeople.com believe.

BeautifulPeople.com - a controversial matchmaking website which only features good-looking people - now has a new sperm and egg donor service. This 'fertility introduction service' (as they call it) aims to bring would-be parents and good-looking donors together. Regular 'normal-looking' people can also find donors through this service.

'Initially, we hesitated to widen the offering to non-beautiful people', Robert Hintze, the site's founder, told the Vancouver Sun newspaper. 'But everyone, including ugly people, would like to bring good-looking children into the world and we can't be selfish with our attractive gene pool'.

'Every parent would like their child to be blessed with many fine attributes, attractiveness being one of the most sought after', the site's managing director, Greg Hodge, said in a written statement. 'For a site with members who resemble Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie you can imagine the demand'.

'Obviously it's going to be controversial, but it is human nature that people want to be with people they find attractive, and have babies with people they find attractive. Exclusion is present throughout society'.

Beautifulpeople.com, launched in October 2009, claims to have more than 600,000 members from all over the globe. To become a member, applicants must upload a picture of themselves and then be judged on their 'attractiveness' by existing members through an online rating system. Only applicants deemed attractive enough are allowed to become members. Furthermore, there is continual 'monitoring' of the members - last year the site got rid of more than 5000 members because they had put on weight.

'Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded', Hintze told mashable.com.

BeautifulPeople.com is not the first sperm bank for 'special interests' - eugenicist Robert K. Graham founded the Repository for Germinal Choice, a sperm bank solely for Nobel Prize winners. Through this service more than 200 children were sired.
