The Annual Conference of the British Society for Human Genetics.

Topics addressed at this event will include:

  • prenatal/congenital anomalies;

  • mitochondria and disease;

  • clinical and molecular genetics;

  • new clinical applications of molecular genetic technology;

  • basic and translational research;

  • cancer genomics and molecular diagnostics;

  • health promotion and genomics;

  • genome-wide association studies and the future of genomics;

  • mechanisms of disease.

This event will incorporate a debate of the motion 'This House Believes that All Genetic Professionals Have a Duty to Encourage Families with Inherited Diseases to Enter into Research Studies'. Speakers at the debate will include Progress Educational Trust (PET) Adviser Alastair Kent (a contributor to the book Ethics in Biomedical Research: International Perspectives).
