We are seeking an experienced Andrologist to act as Deputy Head of Andrology, assisting in the operation and management of the laboratory, and in the performance of routine diagnostic analytical work. Involvement with Quality processes will be key, such as monitoring internal and external quality assurance schemes, stock control and equipment performance. The position involves liaising with TDL's Quality Management Group during audits and helping to implement the required action.
The Andrology Department performs all aspects of semen analysis, post vasectomy semen analysis, determination of retrograde ejaculation, sperm swim-ups etc. You will also be required to take part in ongoing validation for reactive oxygen species measurement in semen and preparation of samples for sperm DNA fragmentation and aneuploidy testing.
The Doctors Laboratory is one of the UK's leading CPA accredited clinical diagnostic laboratories, providing comprehensive services to a wide range of healthcare specialists both nationally and internationally.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and reliable individual with excellent communication skills as you will be expected to liaise with patients and doctors on a regular basis. Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure is essential. You will be expected to adhere to flexible working arrangements within the department, including the Saturday rota.
The successful applicant will be an HPC-registered clinical or biomedical scientist, with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Science or a related field and two years' previous employment in a laboratory setting. A general understanding of the male reproductive system and experience in Andrology is preferable. Familiarity with Quality Assurance and sound computer literacy (MS Office, Excel and Word) is essential.
