System Biology Tools and Preclinical Models for Translational Research in Endometriosis and Adhesion Formation: Lessons from Cancer and Inflammation Biology

European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology
Auditorium GA1, Campus Onderwijs en Navorsing, Gasthuisberg Herestraat, Leuven 3000, Belgium
04 September 2009 - 05/09/2009

An event addressing state-of-the-art research methodology in systems biology.

This event will review currently available approaches to studying somatic stem cells, cell adhesion/attachment, cell invasion, innate immune system function and angiogenesis in the cancer and inflammation biology, and will analyse the currently available in vitro and preclinical animal models for research in endometriosis and adhesion formation.

Those attending the event should subsequently be able to:

  • apply the principles and methods of systems biology in their own research related to endometriosis and adhesion formation;

  • understand how reproductive research in endometriosis and adhesion formation can benefit from the fields of cancer and inflammation biology with respect to the investigation of somatic stem cells, cell adhesion/attachment, cell invasion, innate immune system function and angiogenesis in the cancer and inflammation biology;

  • select the best preclinical models for research in endometriosis and adhesion formation, based on a thorough understanding of their advantages and disadvantages;

  • understand the problems faced by the pharmaceutical industry while developing new drugs for the prevention and treatment of endometriosis and adhesion formation.

Attendance fees range from €70 to €200. To register use this online form (after first registering with the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology), or alternatively complete this form (.pdf 59.3KB) and post it to 'European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology Central Office, 60 Meerstraat, Grimbergen 1852, Belgium', or contact the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology at or on +32 (0)2 269 09 69.
