Trustees at National Gamete Donation Trust

The National Gamete Donation Trust (NGDT) is the national body supporting and empowering sperm, egg and embryo (gamete) donors. We work with potential recipients, UK licensed fertility clinics, the media and support organisations to raise awareness of the need for gamete donors.

We are looking for 2 new Trustees to strengthen our skill base and to replace departing Trustees. Applicants should support fertility treatment and donor-conception in general and ideally have experience and knowledge of donor-conception either as a sperm, egg or embryo donor, a recipient or as a donor-conceived person.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people dedicated to improving donor care for donors and patients. Original thinking with a can-do attitude is a must in this challenging but rewarding environment.

We are particularly interested to hear from applicants experienced in finance (accounting), writing/editing or social media.

Trustees meet at least twice a year in a Central London location and communicate mainly via email in the meantime. A full-time member of staff is available to support Trustees with the various on-going projects.

Trustees will receive reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.

Main tasks for Trustees body:

  1. To take part in formulating and regularly reviewing the objectives of the NGDT
  2. To ensure that the policy and practices of the organisation are in keeping with its aims
  3. To ensure that the organisation functions within the legal and financial requirements of a charitable organisation and strives to achieve best practice
  4. To work in partnership with the Chief Executive helping to achieve the NGDT mission
  5. To support, monitor and review the work of the Chief Executive
  6. To optimise the relationship between the Trustee body and its staff/volunteers
  7. To promote the organisation to a wider audience
  8. Reflect the NGDT policies and concerns on all its committees, sub-committees, groups
  9. Be an active member of the Trustee body in exercising its responsibilities and functions
  10. Fulfil such other duties and assignments as may be required from time to time by the NGDT
